We invite you to join us at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) for the symposium on “Future Directions in Statistics” on July 29, 2024. This symposium brings together leading experts to discuss their recent work and the direction of the field. It will provide a forum to discuss state-of-the-art statistics research and emerging topics alike. The keynotes will be followed by informal discussions to foster interactions and ideas exchange.
Background: ISTA (Institute of Science and Technology Austria; www.ista.ac.at), is an institute for basic research in the physical, mathematical, computer, and life sciences that was founded by the Austrian government in 2006. It is located in the outskirts of Vienna and currently hosts 85 research groups from many different scientific disciplines. Statistics and data science are of particular interest for our future growth. We hope that this symposium will foster links and collaborations with existing faculty, identify topics that are the forefront of current statistical research and discuss how ISTA can successfully recruit in these areas.
